Bad weather forces Rahul to cancel Almora rally, return to Delhi
Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's Almora rally was cancelled on Thursday owing to bad weather conditions in the Kumaon region.
Congress leader’s allegation prompted a scathing response from late Arun Jaitley’s son, who pointed out that his father died in 2019, and the farm laws were introduced in 2020.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s claim that the government had sent late Union Minister Arun Jaitley to ‘threaten’ him for opposing the farm laws has prompted a scathing response from Jaitley’s son, who pointed out that his father died in 2019, and the farm laws were introduced in 2020.
Speaking at the Annual Legal Conclave -2025 in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi said, “I remember when I was fighting the farm laws, Arun Jaitley ji was sent to me to threaten me. He told me, ‘If you carry on opposing the govt, fighting the farm laws, we will have to act against you’. I looked at him and said, “I don’t think you have an idea who you are talking to”.

Reacting to Mr Gandhi’s remarks, Rohan Jaitley said that while his father died before the contentious farm laws were introduced, it was not in his nature to threaten someone for an opposing view.
“Rahul Gandhi now claims my late father, Arun Jaitley, threatened him over the farm laws. Let me remind him, my father passed away in 2019. The farm laws were introduced in 2020. More importantly, it was not in my father’s nature to threaten anyone over an opposing view. He was a staunch democrat and always believed in building consensus,” Rohan posted on X.
He further added that his father would have invited free and open discussions to reach consensus if such a situation was to occur. “That was simply who he was and that remains his legacy today,” he added.

Accusing Rahul Gandhi of politicising the final days of former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Rohan advised the Congress leader to be mindful while speaking about those who are no longer alive.
“I would appreciate Rahul Gandhi being mindful while speaking of those not with us. He attempted something similar with Manohar Parrikar ji, politicising his final days which was in equally poor taste. Let the departed Rest in Peace,” he added.
